First Quarter Summary 2022

January – March 2022

1. Distribution Post Sri Muda Flood

Following the Sri Muda flood in Shah Alam in December, CREST and Relief Emergency And Crisis Help (REACH) distributed relief items to 138 families on 8th and 15th of January. The items included tables, plastic chairs, school bags, stationary, gas stoves, kettle jugs and rice cookers. Volunteers from Shah Alam Gospel Center and Good Samaritan Church assisted in the distribution. SAGC had also contributed biscuits and shampoo while providing their premises as the distribution venue.

2. Basis of Disaster Response Course

While the flood relief works in Sri Muda was ongoing, CREST also conducted a 4 days 3 nights workshop training from the 13th – 16th January to 18 volunteers.

The workshop had taken place in MBS Kundang campus. Participants had ample amount of opportunities to have their hands on hand held radios, GPS units, boat handling and PPE under the guidance of CREST staff, Malaysian Civil Defense, and Hospital Sungai Buloh.

3. Distribution Post Temerloh Flood

CREST together with REACH distributed stationeries and school bags to 100 families in Temerloh at SJK(C) Khee Chee. Many students from the school were affected by floods. CREST and REACH were very thankful to Yeo’s & Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation for the sponsorship of these items as well as the headmaster Tuan Ang for permitting the use of the school venue and ensuring smooth operations. CREST is looking forward to conducting workshops and trainings as part of the process to build a more disaster resilient community in this region.

4. Medical Mobile Van

CREST had successfully managed two Low Risk Covid Quarantine centres in Peninsular Malaysia (Travelodge Kuala Lumpur & Mei Hotel Penang Island). With the various medical equipment and tests which were both purchased and donated to the above centres, it was decided by CREST to purchase a customized Medical Mobile Van equipping it so that those in need of medical care especially among the urban poor and migrant can be better helped and managed with the improved facilities.

CREST had already begun to identify and start dialogues with various NGOs and churches to begin providing much needed medical care to the less fortunate in our society and discuss how CREST’s Mobile Van can be utilized to provide better and improved healthcare. The vehicle is a customized 2800cc diesel Cam Co-Star 16-seater minibus with all the passenger seats removed.
