October - December 2025
The final quarter of 2025 marked one of the busiest and most significant periods for CREST. Alongside regional humanitarian engagement and disaster preparedness initiatives, CREST celebrated its 27th anniversary through a Charity Dinner that brought together long-standing partners, supporters, volunteers, and community leaders. Throughout the quarter, CREST continued strengthening collaborations locally and internationally while remaining actively involved in disaster preparedness and flood response efforts in Kelantan during the Northeast Monsoon season.
1. CREST Charity Dinner 2025 and 27th Anniversary

In October, CREST held its Charity Dinner 2025 in conjunction with the organisation’s 27th anniversary celebration. The event gathered distinguished guests, humanitarian partners, corporate representatives, former staff, volunteers, churches, and supporting organisations who have journeyed alongside CREST throughout the years.
Among the honoured guests were Archbishop Julian, Dr Gary of the Archdiocesan Office of Human Development (AOHD), representatives from the British High Commission and British Council Malaysia, corporate leaders, legal professionals, and various humanitarian partners.
The evening served as an important milestone to celebrate CREST’s humanitarian mission, strengthen partnerships, and reaffirm its commitment to serving vulnerable communities through disaster response, preparedness, and community resilience initiatives.

2. Disaster Response Awareness Workshop with Anglican Diocese Leaders

CREST conducted a Disaster
Response Awareness Workshop together with Anglican Diocese leaders and volunteers over a two-day programme in October. The sessions focused on humanitarian principles, disaster response ethics, and the importance of maintaining the principle of “Do No Harm” during crisis interventions.
Participants engaged in group exercises and practical discussions involving challenging moral scenarios often encountered during disaster operations. Additional sessions explored the biblical perspective on disasters and the role churches of all sizes can play in supporting and transforming communities during times of crisis.
The workshop reinforced that humanitarian response extends beyond the distribution of aid and must also prioritise compassion, dignity, and responsible decision-making in serving affected communities.
3. International Community Development Engagements
During the quarter, CREST continued engaging with international humanitarian and community development networks.

CREST was represented at the
International Starfish Community Transformation programme held in Surabaya, Indonesia. The workshop focused on redefining leadership in community development through identifying and utilising community assets for sustainable and people-centred development. Discussions also explored faith-based and Kingdom-centred approaches to strengthening vulnerable communities.
Subsequently, CREST joined a study tour organised by AOHD to visit Caritas Hong Kong, a humanitarian organisation established by the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong in 1953. The visit provided valuable insights into integrated humanitarian

services involving social work, healthcare, education, community development, and outreach to vulnerable groups. The team also witnessed ministries serving individuals affected by homelessness, substance abuse, human trafficking, and incarceration. These engagements highlighted the importance of holistic and compassionate approaches in humanitarian and social service work.

CREST also participated in an interfaith and peace-building engagement in Abu Dhabi organised by AOHD together with other NGOs. The delegation visited the Abrahamic Family House and met representatives from the Malaysian Embassy as well as religious leaders serving the region.
During the visit, CREST received a plaque from the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace in recognition of its humanitarian efforts and contribution towards promoting peace and community resilience.

4. Kelantan Flood Preparedness and Monsoon Response
As the Northeast Monsoon season intensified towards the end of the year, CREST continued supporting flood-prone communities in Rantau Panjang and Pasir Mas, Kelantan through disaster risk reduction and humanitarian response initiatives. Working alongside local partners including AOHD, KDRN, local Civil Defence Force (APM) offices, and community stakeholders, CREST assisted in preparing and distributing food supplies, hygiene items, and portable power stations to affected communities. The portable power stations were introduced to help residents maintain communication during prolonged flooding and power disruptions.

Flood mapping and coordination efforts were carried out together with local authorities to identify priority areas requiring assistance. Community participation remained central throughout the operations, with villagers actively involved in packing, organising, and distributing aid supplies in an orderly and coordinated manner. CREST remained deeply encouraged by the strong collaboration between corporate donors, local organisations, volunteers, and affected communities. These collective efforts demonstrated the importance of preparedness, cooperation, and community resilience in mitigating the impact of recurring monsoon floods in Kelantan.
