1 Message from Executive Director

It has always been challenging to plan and execute activities for the shorter month of February. Adding to the challenge this year was the Chinese New Year holidays. The Wilderness Survival, Search & Rescue training scheduled for 3rd March to be called off because only 3 persons had signed up.

The pace picks up in March as various churches in Malaysia moves into disaster preparedness and response. We praise God for the churches and NGOs who have requested for training events in their region or state. I am praying for these trainings will not clash with the coming General Election. Please pray with CREST for God’s strength, wisdom and knowledge to be upon us as we continue to serve in His Kingdom.

2 Post Penang Flood - Rebuilding & Development Update

8-12 Feb – On behalf of CREST, I would like to thank to our volunteers and staffs for your help in one of our biggest distribution events in Penang. 10 volunteers from KL/Selangor churches, 20 from Penang churches as well as non-Christians came together for those 2 days to make the event a remarkable and successful one. We pray that through the help and contributions the love of God may be revealed.

It was by no means an easy task to handle the distribution to 385 households. We faced challenges mainly in the area of logistics and transportation. Despite of the misunderstandings, miscommunication and problems with logistics, we did it with your prayer support and with the excellent teamwork and dedication from the volunteers.

During the first day of the distribution, we received the recognition from a local Chinese newspaper, Sin Chew Daily. Our thanks and appreciation goes to the reporter as well as the local Chinese school Chung Hwa 3 which had allowed us to use the school premise as the distribution center.
