Flores Earthquake Indonesia

Standing with the People of Flores

On 15 August 2026, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Flores Island, Indonesia, causing widespread damage and disruption to communities across the island.

Many residents have been affected by the disaster and continue to face uncertainty as aftershocks persist. Communities are working to cope with the immediate impacts of the earthquake while beginning the difficult process of recovery.

In response to this situation, Crisis Relief Services & Training (CREST) Malaysia, together with the Archdiocesan Office for Human Development (AOHD) Kuala Lumpur, will be travelling to Flores from 26 August 2026.

Our team will conduct a rapid assessment of affected areas, engage with local partners and communities, and seek to understand the priority needs arising from the disaster. This assessment will help guide an appropriate humanitarian response in the days and weeks ahead.

At this stage, the needs on the ground are still being assessed. Rather than making assumptions from afar, CREST and AOHD KL will work with local contacts and partners to obtain a clearer picture of the situation and determine where our support can make the greatest difference.

We invite you to stand with the communities of Flores during this difficult time.

Your contribution will help enable CREST and its partners to respond to priority needs identified on the ground as the situation develops from immediate relief towards recovery.

Every contribution, large or small, can help us reach people affected by the disaster and support a response that is guided by the needs of the communities themselves.
