PAKISTAN FLOOD

Working with local partners, CREST has been distributing cooked food for the past 4 days to 600 flood victims being housed temporarily in 2 school buildings in Charsadda.

The flood situation has not improved and regions to the south are also in danger now. Warsak Dam,the3rd largest in Pakistan may burst; farmland in Punjab which produces most of the country’s corn has been destroyed together with the entire harvest. Food security is being threatened. With the holy month of Ramadhan starting just a few days away, there is already a pre-Ramadhan increase in food prices.

CREST has sent additional funds to provide 51 families with a stove, cooking utensils and food supplies to last them for the whole month of Ramadhan. The government agency coordinating the aid to flood victims has asked our local partners if they could provide the same for 3,950 other families. It costs just USD127 to provide each family with enough for sahur and to buka puasa this Ramadhan.
