Typhoon Sendong Response
In December of 2011, the southern island of Philippines - Mindanao was hit by typhoon Sendong (Washi). Causing tremendous damage, the storm killed 1,268 people and displaced thousands of families. CREST responded by sending immediate cash aid to its trusted partner, followed by two 20ft containers loaded with drinking water, instant rice and instant porridge. In January 2012, a team from CREST as well as a local Chinese newspaper reporter being sent to the mission field from 12th - 17th Feb 2012.
TYPHOON NESAT / PEDRING
Typhoon Nesat/Pedring, a powerful typhoon with wind gusts of up to 150kmh, unleashed flood waters that killed at least 18 people in Metro Manila & sent huge waves crashing not only over strong seawalls but over New Smokey Mountain shanties too.
