WHAT WE STAND FOR

VISION

To have teams of volunteers armed with multi-disciplinary skills and God's love reaching the most desperate, needy and receptive people in the world.

Like a reservist army, they are always ready to be deployed on short notice to do relief work for short durations of 1 to 2 weeks.

The goal is to harness not only the spiritual but also the natural and secular skills of Christians of multi-disciplinary backgrounds (homemakers, office workers, professionals, business men and women, full-time and lay ministers, retirees, teens, EVERYONE!). This way the whole church can be involved in missions in very down to earth and practical ways. It's not only for those who can preach and teach or feel called into full-time missions.

MISSION

To be the "hands and feet" of Jesus bringing His love and hope to those caught in crises and disasters.

Research and statistics show that disasters and crises are increasing at an alarming rate among the poorest, most needy and unreached peoples of the world. God's original mandate and concern is seen in His command for the tithes to be for the Levites, the aliens (refugees), the fatherless and the widows (Deuteronomy 14 & 26). God has called us to establish a crisis relief team made up of Christians from different denominations and skills who will train and work together to demonstrate His love and bring relief to people where the needs are most acute and urgent.

We are to go with His compassion, to be His feet and His hands, to comfort those who mourn, to bind up the broken-hearted, to bestow on them a crown of beauty in place of ashes, the oil of gladness in place of mourning and a garment of praise in place of a spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61).

Jesus identified so much with the poor, weak and oppressed that He said, "… I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me . . . I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it for me" (Matthew 25).

OUR STORY

In 1995, during the height of the Rwanda crisis, two American doctors, Drs. Mark & Betsy Neuenschwander of the International Health Services Foundation received a vision from God to raise up disaster relief teams across the world. They visited Malaysia and conducted 3 consecutive Disaster Relief Schools (DRS) in 1995, 1996 and 1997.

From these training schools, a group of graduates received God's call to establish a disaster relief organization in Asia. On 3rd December 1998, CREST was birthed. Now, CREST serves in countries across Asia and takes on the mantle to train more relief volunteers in our Disaster Relief Schools (DRS) in Malaysia.

Since 1998, we have deployed multiple teams of Christians from various churches throughout Malaysia and Singapore, networking with other international organizations to respond to various crises and disasters with medical, food, clothing, shelter and other forms of aid. CREST is a non-profit organization where funds for operations and projects come entirely from the contribution of individuals and organizations. Our funds are managed in the account of Crisis Relief Services& Training Berhad, a company limited by guarantee.
