Cyclone Nargis

4 July 2008

Greetings. A brief update of activities. It is relief/rebuilding phase

in Myanmar after the cyclone.

CREST supervised, delivered and distributed 4 containers of food

supplies, drinking water, nutritional supplements, baby feeding

bottles, new clothes, soap, feminine napkins, tarpaulin sheets, water

pumps and generators.

7,723 families were recipients of goods.

In one village, it was their first time to receive any form of aid since the

cyclone ravaged the community. Being the only foreigner in a

restricted area, CREST staff bought 10,000kg of rice from the rice

millers directly and gave to the hungry and destitute villagers.

This week, 2 doctors will be conducting a training on psycho-social

mental healthcare to an estimated 100 pastors/church workers. This is a

very useful therapeutic tool to bring comfort to grieving and

hurting people.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
